Sponge Cake

INGREDIENTS

140 grams all-purpose flour      2-tsp. Baking powder

1/2-tsp. Soda

1/2 tin condensed milk(200 grams)      60 ml. Butter

75 ml. Water      1 tbsp. Vanilla extract

PREPARATION:

Shift all-purpose flour, soda and baking powder.

In a pot melt butter and beat it. Add condensed milk and beat for 5 minutes. Mix the flour and stir. Repeat the process till all the flour is used. Add vanilla extract and beat. Now beat with cut fault method (bring the tsp. in the center and beat the whole cake) for 10 -15 minutes. See that the batter falls from the spatula or add a little water.

Grease an oven tray and dust it. Pour the contents in the oven tray and bake for 25-30 minutes. Oven temperature at 375 F.

When the cake is baked, remove from the oven and turn out onto a wire rack and cool it. When it cools completely cut it into half horizontally and then pour 3-4 tbsp. icing can be done.

Note:

For making cakes without oven, heat sand on a griddle (before starting the cake mixing) on a low heat. Pour the contents in the greased mould and keep on the sand griddle. Cover the tray and over it invert a big pot. Now put it on fast gas for 5 minutes, slow down the gas and bake for 35-40 minutes.

For making cakes in the pressure cooker put the oven tray in the cooker, cover with the lid and bake for 35-40 minutes. Water and whistle should not be used.

For the icing

100 grams white butter      100 grams margarine

200 grams icing sugar      1/2-tsp. Vanilla extract

Beat butter and margarine with a spatula. Mix icing sugar slowly by beating the butter. Beat the mixture till they become white and smooth. Add vanilla extract and beat. For nearly 20 minutes.

Spread the icing on the top of the cake with a small plastic knife. Level it on the top with a plastic ruler.

Spread the icing on the side with a small palette knife.

Make boarders by mixing cocoa powder or any color. Make flowers, stars etc. As per one’s choice. Write the name and the cake is ready for use.
