Snehrani ji was my guru mother, we have done many seminars in the country and abroad, I and the Mahasabha have got to learn a lot from her knowledge and studies. She wrote many articles related to the Indus Valley Civilization. Condolences on her death. I do not have words to express. I pray to God that she may get Moksh.
A great stalwart who had authoritatively explained in a convincing way that the Indus Valley civilization was based on Jain principles. She gave a lecture on this subject in Madaras university Jainology dept. Presided by the very Great Scholar Late Shri Iravatham Mahadevan. When she visited Chennai to deliver an Endowment lecture we had an opportunity to be with her to understand the meaning of several mystique line diagrams/symbols found in Jaina caves in Tamilnadu invariably. Triangle, Ladder, square with lines across etc. Many varieties. A large ocean-like-data we have lost forever.
We were together in a seminar in Khandagiri. A marvelous lady with full of knowledge. We both together went to visit Udayagiri and Khandagiri. She shared a lot of philosophical thoughts with me.
Sorry to know of her passing away. I met her first time in September 1993 at the Centennial of World Parliament of Religions where I was the the Coordinator of Jain Delegation from India. I still remember her singing a song in English – I love my Mahavira.
🙏💐Her works will be remembered for a long time to come. My deep respect for the departed soul 🙏
I salute such an accomplished Jain scholar and historian with wide knowledge base and depth! Om Sadgati for her soul. 🙏🏼
Om shanti. A great loss to the society.
I spoke to her in 2020 for a good 1+ hour. And hoped to meet her sometime. Despite her age, she sounded so excited & confident talking about Jainism and Indus Valley Script & Seals. She said she can understand the Indus script with Jainism perspective. She shared a lot of things, recalling her Trip to Chennai, staying with the renowned Tamil Scholar Late Iravatham Mahadevan sir, who looked up to her as his guru, a sister. Through her, he could understand the Indus script and he is one of the first & few to declare the Indus script is connected to Jainism. Fortunately I recorded that conversation being well aware of old age, it is now a treasurable memory of her….Om Shanti Shanti Shanti. 🙏🏼
It’s personal loss to my family, she was father’s professor, had an opportunity to meet her last year, had conversation on different topics.
Mourne the loss of Shri Sneh Rani Jain, A scholar of extraordinary skills and Brahmachari of firm resolve. She leads a exploratory and research trip to MP Heritage sites – Deogarh, Sonagiri, Nainagiri. She was also present at the dept of Jainology, the University of Madras during my masters at multiple occasions; presenting research papers, taking workshops and more. Her claim that she deciphered the script of Harappa civilization within the framework of Jainism is what opened my eyes in multiple frames. We were fortunate to undertake research and exploratory pilgrimage with her to MP heritage sites, also attend her lectures on Jain significance of Harappa Seals.
She taught us microbiology in B Pharm. in the year 1981
ॐ शान्ति ॐ
Vinamra Shradhanjali to our respected teacher. She was a great schloar🙏🙏🙏
