Shri Dal
Chand Jain
Mr. Dal Chand Jain, born on 11th of Sept. 1928, is the son
of Renowned Social Worker of National Ideology, Late Seth Samaj Bhushan
Bhagwandasjee Jain. He has been a Freedom Fighter, an Ex-Member of the
Legislative Assembly and currently, a Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha) |

His political activities started at the early age of 14,
active participation in 1942 freedom fighting got him arrested several
times, but being underage he used to be released after one day detention
period. Sadly, his name was removed from the school register due to active
participation in freedom fighting movement. He currently holds the
position of President of the Madhya Pradesh Freedom Fighters Sanghthan.
Post-Independence, Mr. Dal Chand Jain's political enterprises involved
active membership in a number of government bodies - both local and at the
Centre. Starting out as District Convenor of Indian Social Service,
Municipal President of Sagar Municipality he moved on to be a Member of
the legislative assembly in 1967 and Member of Parliament (M.P.) in 1984.
Mr. Dal Chand was also the Treasurer of Madhya Pradesh from 1978 to 1986
and has been nominated to the External Affairs Advisory Committee of
Parliament and a member of the Direct Tax Advisory Committee and Finance
Administrative Council.
In the true Gandhian spirit of democracy of working for the masses, he has
always visited and kept contact with the people of his constituency for
the development of his region and for its interest always rendered
assistance and keeps visiting it.
However, his pre-occupation with political activities did not diminish Mr.
Dal Chand's interest and active participation in social and educational
activities and organizations.
Mr. Dal Chand Jain has worked continuously for peace co-ordination and
unity and his efforts were rewarded by being conferred with the
International Unity award.
Besides being a member and president in several industrial organisation,
he is the All India Beedi Industry Federation treasurer, Senior Advisor of
Madhya Pradesh Federation of Chamber of Commerce and Industries Bhopal.
Mr. Dal Chand was nominated by His Excellency the Governor of Madhya
Pradesh as member of the executive council of Shri Hari Singh Gour Vishwa
Vidyalaya (formerly Sagar Vishwa Vidyalaya) which is a largest and the
first University in the province and later continued on the Board as an
elected member.
He has been the President of Shri Ganesh Prasad Varanee Sanskrit College
Trust, for many years. While at present he is the President of Jain Higher
Secondary School, Sagar (M.P.), and President of Shri Bhagwandas Sobha Lal
Charitable Trust
As a member of the Central Labour Welfare Board, he is striving to secure
respect for labourers and working for their welfare.
While he has been working in various executive capacities, he has also
been working for the welfare of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribe
labourers and weaker sections of the society, and towards this end he has
given free lease funds from his family property and has zealously given
all types of assistance to the weaker section from the trust.
His association with several educational, social and cultural
organizations and holding highest positions not only in Madhya Pradesh but
at the all India level, has brought him great recognition as a noted
social worker.
He has travelled abroad on numerous occasion to represent India in many
Inter-national Conferences
While being engrossed with politics, social and educational field he also
spared his time and energies towards his religious obligations and is
currently the President of World Vishva Ahimsa Sangh sponsored by Acharya
Shri Sushil Muny which is active on the International level for truth,
non-violence and peace, since 1986; Past-President (from 1978 to 1992) of
All India Digambar Jain Parishad and has been a Trustee of All Indian
Digambar Jain Pilgrimage field.
