VEGETABLE IDLI


 

INGREDIENTS:

300 grams cream of wheat      1-tbsp. rice flour

50 grams urad dal      200 grams sev

1-tsp. green chilly paste      3-5 red chilies

1-tbsp oil and ghee      50 grams chana dal

5 cups plain yogurt      50 grams French beans

50 grams peas,      10 to 12 cashew nut

banana leaves.

 

 

PREPARATION:

Heat oil and ghee in a pot. Sauté urad dal and chana dal. Roast red chilies and cashew nut, sev and cream of wheat. Make buttermilk of plain yogurt and add it to the mixture of all the above ingredients to form a batter. Make soft batter. Keep it covered for 5-6 hours. Add green peas, chopped beans, green chilly paste, salt and curry leaves.

Grease banana leaves and put them in the mould. Fill the moulds with the batter and cover with banana leaves. Steam and serve with chutney and sambhar.
