First Jain Bioethics Conference report

Two weeks ago , Claremont Lincoln University in Claremont, Claremont, California, USA , hosted the first -- “Claremont Lincoln Jain conference on Bioethics Religious and Spiritual Approaches”. It was a well planned, managed and attended conference. Attached is a report of this conference for your information.

Below are some of the feedbacks and further plans that from the conference attendees;
a) Most probably this was truly the first Interfaith dialog on this topic where many eminent speakers from 7 major religions of the world ( Jainism, Hinduism, Sikhism, Buddhism, Judaism, Islam and Christianity) met and deliberated for 2 days as equal partners.
b) Several speakers suggested to hold such Interfaith conferences regularly on many issues and concerns affecting the global society in which we all live
c) One speaker is already working to hold a similar but much bigger conference at a reputed medical facility in USA inviting all the same 7 religions.
d) Two speakers agreed to collaborate on writing a book on “ Jains and Jews; similarities”
e) One speaker after his return from Fulbright Fellowship next year proposed to write a book on “ Practical ahimsa ( non –violence ) and how to make it a way of life”
f) 2013 Claremont Lincoln Jain conference will be “ Women’s Perspectives in the Dharma Traditions”
